Tea eggs

Tea eggs

In the local (7-Eleven) store I discovered these tea eggs. They are very popular here and having already made them before myself I had a good idea what to expect. The eggs are first hard boiled and then the shells lightly cracked. The eggs are then simmered for a further 20 minutes or so in a mixture of tea and spices. The result is a super marbled effect on the white and it gives the eggs a great flavour and colour. I would tell you what they cost too having bought three yesterday but the till receipt is in Chinese of course so I will have to pass on that one.
