Temples in Yuanlin

Is that a church rearing it's head from behind a temple?

It's Sunday so I decide to visit a temple in Yuanlin. I am surprised to find it as busy as usual in the town especially near the markets. Most of the shops are open and scooters as usual dominate the traffic. There are only a few people in the temples, but then the Taiwanese do have a completely different relationship to their religions (or should I say philosophies) than we do in the west. There are plenty of elaborate temples to be found, easily identified by their multi-coloured classic oriental architecture. The two main schools that temples cater for are 'tao' and 'buddhism'  both of which I would be happy to join should I ever feel the need.
