I think this is a "Malayan" night heron, spotted in Taichung this morning. 

Today was 'Moon festival' 中秋節, with plenty of fireworks going off all day and a variety of 'Mooncakes' to eat. I hope that was the reason anyway for all the trains being late and packed to overflowing and that it was not an example of a typical Sunday. It was a beautiful day otherwise with clear blues skies and much cooler temperatures. Many Taiwanese had their jumpers on today but I suspect mainly because trains continued to be air conditioned for some reason.
